FedEx Cup Standings: Dead Last (February 23rd, 2009)

Each week, profiles the golfer who is last in the FedEx Cup standings for the current year. Each of these golfers is a professional on the PGA Tour who is better than we will ever be (by about 30 strokes per round), but it makes us feel better to know that there’s someone in last place.

This week Brian becomes our first consecutive-weeks last place finisher of the season, after missing the cut at the northern trust open.  He shot 69 and 77 in the opening two rounds, respectively.

Brian has played 5 events and earned one FedEx Cup point. Bateman has one career PGA Tour win, which came at the 2007 Buick Open. He also won in 1998 on the Nike (now Nationwide) tour. Bateman’s best 2009 finish so far, and his one cut made, came at the Buick Invitational, where he finished 77th.
